How much do I love dressing up!
Finding THE dress. Working out if it is worth splashing out on a cute matching evening bag. What shoes? Hair up? Hair down? and that's all before you can even enjoy the ritual of getting ready.
Being young and single (and a size 10!!!) the whole ceremony of the formal occassion was a dream - and with dance showcases twice a year and the regular New Years Eve ball at the Sheraton or sim, I was well rehearsed at it. The getting home with the sun rise and sleeping all Sunday.
Back then it was bliss ...
Now - its just a big panic followed by 24 hours of listening to your body screaming that it needs MORE sleep.
This year CFQ hosted its ball under the Terra Australis theme and it would have to be 'THE BEST EVER'
Things started off on a high when 40 minutes into shopping for the elusive dress (with Riley in tow!) I had THE PERFECT GOWN. And I'm pretty sure its my favourite dress of all time (at least for this year anyway).
Then Phil managed to dig at Poppy's mafia suit ... and after a bit of help from Linnie - it was a perfect fit and he was looking HOT!
With Lisa and Dale in tow we had a great night. The food was fantastic (I think we all fell in love with the bowl of mashed potato). The emotional blackmail was limited. I even managed to secure the framed pointe shoe shadow box in the silent auction (just!) - so Emmy is tres excited ...
And the highlight
Darryl Braithwaithe trying to leave the stage after a massive 45 mins on stage, with HORSES HORSES HORSES booming throughout the convention centre. So he may be one of Australia's biggest rock names.. but for most of us it was just one hit we wanted to here/sing.
And sing we did ... for at least 10 mins.
very swish indeed....you both look glam.... love darryl b.
